Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers from Charlie, owner of ARP Heat And Air.

What counts as an HVAC emergency?

No heat below 50°F outdoor. No AC above 85°F indoor. Gas smells. CO alarm sounding. Refrigerant leaks with audible hissing. Water leaking from the indoor unit. Frozen pipe risk. Anything where waiting overnight risks health, safety, or significant property damage.

How fast can you actually be there for an emergency?

Top-8 cities (Edmond, OKC, Norman, Moore, Yukon, Mustang, Midwest City, Bethany): typical 30-60 minute arrival. Rural cities: 1-2 hours. After-hours and weekends usually add 30-45 minutes. We'll give honest ETA before dispatching.

Do you really have no overtime fees?

Correct. The $89 diagnostic and our hourly labor rate are the same whether we come at noon Tuesday or midnight Saturday. No after-hours surcharge, no weekend premium, no holiday surcharge. This is one of the most common HVAC rip-offs and we refuse to do it.

Are you available on holidays?

Yes, 24/7/365 — Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th, New Year's, all of them. Same pricing as any other day, no holiday surcharge.

What if my emergency happens at 3am?

Call (405) 413-0583 and you'll reach Charlie or one of our on-call techs. We dispatch immediately for genuine emergencies (no heat below 50°F, gas leaks, water damage in progress, CO alarms). For things that can safely wait until morning, we'll tell you honestly.

Can you help with frozen pipe risk from a no-heat situation?

Yes — and that's exactly the kind of emergency we prioritize. If your furnace is out and outdoor temps are heading below 32°F, that's a same-night dispatch. Even if we can't fully fix it that night, we can get temporary heat working to prevent pipe damage.

What does an emergency call typically cost?

Diagnostic $89, plus the repair cost. The diagnostic is the same as any other day. We give written quotes before any repair work starts — no pressure, no surprises.

Do I have to be a current customer to get emergency service?

No. We service anyone in our 35-city OKC metro area whether you've used us before or not. Existing customers and maintenance plan members get priority dispatch but we don't refuse emergency calls from new customers.
