At ARP Heat And Air, we bring over 14+ years of HVAC experience to every job. Our owner Charlie personally oversees service quality and is known for honest assessments and fair pricing. We service all major brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Amana, Daikin, York, and Bryant.
What Our AC Tune-Up Covers
Our thorough AC maintenance inspection covers every critical component: we check refrigerant levels and test for leaks, clean the condenser coils (Oklahoma's cottonwood and red dirt clog them fast), inspect and tighten all electrical connections, test the capacitor and contactor, clear the condensate drain line, check the blower motor and belt, calibrate the thermostat, measure airflow and temperature differential, and inspect ductwork connections. This 20+ point inspection catches problems before they become expensive breakdowns.
Why Oklahoma AC Systems Need Annual Maintenance
Oklahoma's extreme summers put your AC through 4-5 months of heavy use. Cottonwood season coats condenser coils in white fuzz that blocks airflow. Red clay dust infiltrates outdoor units. Severe thunderstorms can damage condenser fins and electrical components. Without annual maintenance, these Oklahoma-specific stressors shorten your system's life by 5-7 years and increase energy bills by 15-25%.
Spring Is the Time
Schedule your AC tune-up in March or April โ before Oklahoma's heat arrives in May. Waiting until June or July means every HVAC company is slammed with repair calls, and you might wait days for an appointment. A $150 spring tune-up prevents the $600 emergency repair in August.
Signs Your AC Needs Maintenance Now
Don't wait for spring if you notice: higher-than-normal energy bills, the system running longer to reach temperature, weak airflow from vents, unusual noises (grinding, squealing, or rattling), warm spots in certain rooms, or musty smells when the AC kicks on. These symptoms mean your system is working harder than it should.

What a Proper AC Tune-Up Actually Includes
Every HVAC company claims to do "AC tune-ups" but what's actually checked varies enormously. Here's what we do on every ARP AC maintenance visit โ written out so you can ask other contractors if they're doing the same.
Refrigerant charge verification. We check actual pressures against manufacturer specs for your outdoor temp. A system that's even 10% undercharged loses 15-20% efficiency and shortens compressor life. Many "tune-ups" skip this entirely.
Capacitor testing under load. Capacitors are the #1 cause of mid-summer AC failures in Oklahoma. A weak capacitor still runs โ until it doesn't. We test microfarad reading against the nameplate value and replace anything reading below 90% of spec.
Condenser coil cleaning. Oklahoma's cottonwood pollen and red clay dust pack condenser coils solid by August. Dirty coils force longer run times and higher electric bills. We remove the top cover, rinse from the inside out, and brush fins straight.
Blower motor amperage check. Catches motor bearings starting to fail before they lock up on a 100ยฐ day. Difference between a $40 capacitor replacement during a planned visit and a $600 emergency call.
Electrical connection tightening. Connections loosen over time from thermal cycling. Loose connections arc, overheat, melt terminals, and can start fires. 30 seconds per connection, every visit.
Drain line flush. Algae and biofilm build up in condensate drain lines over Oklahoma summers. A clogged drain triggers your float switch and shuts the system off โ usually at 4 PM on the hottest day. We flush with vinegar or a physical line clearing every visit.
