Why Ductwork Matters More Than You Think
Your ductwork is the delivery system for all your heated and cooled air. If it's leaking, disconnected, or poorly insulated, you're paying to condition air that never reaches your rooms. The Department of Energy estimates that leaky ducts waste 20-30% of the air moving through them. In a home spending $200/month on cooling, that's $40-$60/month literally going into your attic or crawl space.
Signs Your Ductwork Needs Attention
Rooms that are always too hot or too cold compared to the rest of the house. Excessive dust on furniture even after cleaning (leaky ducts in attics suck in insulation particles and dust). High energy bills that don't match your usage. Visible duct tape on exposed ductwork (duct tape actually fails within 1-2 years despite the name). Rattling or whistling sounds from vents. Musty or stale smells when the system runs.
Services We Provide
Duct sealing closes gaps and joints where conditioned air escapes โ we use mastic sealant and metal tape (not duct tape) for permanent repairs. Duct insulation wraps exposed ductwork in attics and crawl spaces to prevent heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter. Duct repair fixes crushed, disconnected, or damaged sections. Duct replacement addresses severely deteriorated or undersized ductwork. New duct installation designs and installs complete duct systems for additions, renovations, or homes converting from radiant to forced air.
Oklahoma Attic Ductwork
Many Oklahoma homes have ductwork running through unconditioned attics where summer temperatures reach 140-160ยฐF. Even insulated ducts in these conditions lose significant cooling capacity. We can assess your attic ductwork, add or upgrade insulation, seal all connections, and in some cases recommend rerouting ducts to conditioned spaces for maximum efficiency.

Why Ductwork Often Matters More Than Equipment
You can put a $10,000 premium HVAC system in a home with leaky ducts and it will perform worse than a budget system with tight ducts. This isn't marketing โ it's physics. Here's what we look for and fix.
Return air sizing. Many older Oklahoma homes have too little return air duct capacity โ the system can't pull back what it's pushing out. This shows up as rooms that don't cool evenly, high static pressure, and shortened equipment life. We measure return capacity and add returns where needed.
Supply balance. Bedrooms at the end of a long duct run often get 40-60% of the airflow of rooms near the air handler. Dampers can re-balance the system so every room gets the CFM it needs.
Sealing joints. Metal ductwork sealed with cloth tape decades ago has likely failed. Even modern mastic-sealed ducts develop leaks at trunk line joints. We pressure-test and re-seal critical joints.
Insulation in unconditioned spaces. Ductwork running through attics loses 30-40% of its cooling to the attic environment if uninsulated. We wrap exposed ducts with R-8 insulation.
Flexible duct issues. Flex duct (the silver insulated tubing) is easy to install but easy to crush, kink, or over-stretch. We inspect flex runs for restrictions that are killing your airflow.
Static pressure measurement. We measure pressure differentials across your system โ high static pressure means your blower is working too hard, wastes electricity, shortens motor life, and creates noise. Most homes test higher than they should.
Signs your ductwork needs attention: rooms with big temperature differences, excessive dust accumulation, high electric bills despite correct thermostat settings, visible ducts with obvious damage or disconnections, or whistling/rumbling noises when the system runs.
